Understanding sexual citizenship for Asian MSM in Aotearoa

Introduction: As members of a profession that promotes social justice and human rights, workers are well positioned to engage in sexual health practices, such as providing immunodeficiency virus (HIV) services, significant aspect the development citizenship—or supporting rights responsibilities people their lives. Comprising part second largest ethnic minority group, Asian men who have sex with (MSM) most HIV-affected group Aotearoa New Zealand. However, work practices this cohort non-specific. This article presents concept citizenship lens through which better understand needs MSM how or other professionals might be supportive.
 Approach: A narrative literature review eight articles concerning MSM’s was undertaken. Three themes were identified from review: 1) stigma, discrimination prejudice; 2) layered identities, 3) knowledge safer practises.
 Conclusions: fastest growing Aotearoa, more actions resources required meet Asian, particularly MSM’s, needs. The can play critical role by advocating for citizenship, supportive resources, addressing stigma disparities among MSM.
